Documentation Center and Nazi Party Rally Grounds

  • The Documentation Center is currently being renovated and has only organized an emergency exhibition as a replacement.
  • The Reichstag grounds are located outside the historic old town and can be reached from the main train station with the U1 subway, the S2 S-Bahn or the 8 tram.
  • For a tour of the Reich Party Rally Grounds, please allow approximately 2 to 3 hours.
  • According to the Nuremberg Tourist Office, there are two free toilets on the site and one for a fee (EUR 0.50), one free toilet in the nearby Luitpoldhain and one in the Gasthaus Gutmann, where you can stop for a little rest.

Nuremberg public transport (VAG)

  • VAG - App for Android - Google Play; App for Mac Products - AppStore
  • Please note that the ticket machines are not located on the public transport, but at the stops.
  • The payment system is very complicated! Please inform HERE
  • One option is the City Card - it is worth it if you want to visit the museums and also reach destinations outside of the historic old town.
  • The Deutschland-Ticket is also valid for local transport (VAG).

Finally - Don't forget!

  • Good footwear is recommended - our greets usually last at least 2 hours and, if you wish, you can also go up to the Kaiserburg.
  • In summer: have water with you (of course there are also opportunities to buy some).
  • In winter: it is a good idea to have a warm drink with you (substitutes are available in cafés and restaurants).
  • Restaurants, Cafés, Shopping, Specialities, Museums, Music-Theatre-Film, Events, Sights
  • In bad weather, an umbrella might help as a deterrent.
  • There are a few public toilets in Nuremberg, for example at the main market. You can also use toilets in museums, restaurants and cafes. These apps (Mac or Android) can be helpful. Not all toilets are free!
