What our guests have said

Our friends from Bordeaux are visiting. Thierry is a Greeter, and together with his wife Jacqueline, he led a Greet

for us that inspired us so much that we founded the Nuremberg Greeters.

Dear Brigitte, dear Axel,

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you once again very warmly for the excellent city tour!

The welcome you gave us was incredibly warm, and we felt right at home straight away.

You shared all the stories and historical details with such humour and ease

that not a single second was boring. We had a brilliant time!

Thank you so much for this brilliant and entertaining day.

We’ll definitely be recommending you to others!

Warm regards

(Gitta, Elsbeth, Monika and Bianca with Brigitte and Axel, 2 September 2026)

Thank you so much, Holger & Susanne, for being the most wonderful hosts and for showing us around the beautiful city of Nuremberg! From the delicious meal together to the stunning castle views, we had an amazing time. Most importantly, we gained 2 lovely new friends from this trip. We miss you already!

Dear Astrid, dear Jürgen!

We’ve now arrived back in Vienna. Thank you once again for your hospitality and the lovely walk. We enjoyed it very much and will tell our friends all about the Greeters. Our invitation to visit Vienna still stands, of course.

(Best wishes, Maria, Anton and Bernhard, 18 August 2026, Austria)

Dear Greeters,

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Barbara and Manfred – also on behalf of our guests from Lübeck – for the fascinating and informative guided tour of our beautiful city of Nuremberg. We were in luck: apart from a brief rain shower at the start, which Barbara made up for with her wealth of knowledge and information, we had nothing but sunshine for the rest of the tour. During this very personalised tour, we were able to marvel at and enjoy the special places we had hoped to see.

Saying thank you

(Maria and Manfred, Germany, 22 August 2026)

A good friend of mine is visiting from Japan with her family, and today I showed them round Nuremberg.

1. They found it very interesting that the streets in Nuremberg have lots of inclines and declines, so the city isn’t just flat. This makes walking here particularly enjoyable.

2. They were very impressed by how beautifully the historic old town was rebuilt after the war. They thought it was admirable that Nuremberg brings so much of its history to life today and that the historic townscape has been so beautifully restored.

3. They thought it was wonderful to sit outside, enjoy the gentle breeze and have a meal. People in Japan also like to eat outdoors, but at this time of year it is particularly muggy and humid there, so it is sometimes difficult to stay outside for long periods.

(Yuki and her friends from Japan, 27 August 2026)

Dear Nuremberg Greeters

Our sincere thanks to Claudia and Seffi for welcoming us to your beautiful city. We had a wonderful time learning all about the historical and modern day Nuremberg. We loved our conversation and the rest stop at the castle was just what we needed. We can't speak highly enough about the greeters throughout Germany.

Thanks for the memories!

I enjoyed every minute of the tour of the Nazi Party Rally Grounds. It was interesting and very informative. Franziska made the afternoon a wonderful experience; her explanations were varied and demonstrated great expertise.

Thank you, Franziska – thank you, Greeter Nuremberg

(Germany, 8 August 2026)

We were lucky enough to explore the old town with Astrid and Siggi as our greeters, and we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent together and our conversations – and learnt an absolute load! Our little one loved it too (though that might have been down to the ice cream. :)

Thank you so much again – it’ll remain a wonderful memory for us!!

Nuremberg with a Heart – an unforgettable afternoon

We were incredibly lucky to be able to explore Nuremberg with Walter and Ulrike – and it was simply wonderful!

From the very first minute, we felt warmly welcomed and in very good hands. Walter and Ulrike showed us ‘their’ Nuremberg with such enthusiasm, warmth and personal insight that what started as a simple city walk quickly turned into a very special afternoon together.

As well as the well-known sights, we learnt about lots of little details, stories and special spots that we would probably have walked right past on our own. It’s precisely these personal insights and the relaxed, informal atmosphere that make the Greeter concept so special to us.

You can tell straight away that Walter and Ulrike love their city and take great pleasure in sharing this enthusiasm with their guests. We saw a lot, learnt a lot, laughed together and felt completely at ease.

For us, this personal encounter was definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Nuremberg and will remain a fond memory for a long time to come.

Dear Walter, dear Ulrike: Once again, a very heartfelt thank you for your time, your warmth and this wonderful afternoon!

My experience in Nürnberg with Axel was amazing! One of the highlights was getting to see the “Marriage Carousel” sculpture, which I thought was such a unique and clever art installation. I also really appreciated all of the historical references throughout the tour and getting to learn more about some of Axel’s favorite places in the city. He was even kind enough to take me to one of his favorite Nürnberger Bratwurst shops so I could try them for the first time!

Experiences like this are what make Germany feel so much more accessible and welcoming. Thank you so much, Axel, for such a wonderful experience and for making my first time in Nürnberg so special!

My time with Marcus was great! What I could say is that, I had had the chance to walk around the old town the day before, but it is completely different when you do it with someone who loves their city and who likes to share what they know with others. Now I see the city in a different way.

Thank you very much!

A guest from Switzerland, July 2026

The "Greet" with our greeter Brigitte was a ten out of ten! She showed us important sites that enabled us to appreciate Nürnberg's history and combined the information with stories and her own experiences, which added richness and depth. We loved being guided down an alleyway to see the modern art museum building from a different perspective or rounding a corner into a quiet garden at the castle most people miss. The tour shaped our subsequent days in Nürnberg, because it gave us a clearer overall sense of the city and its roles in historical events. More than anything else, though, we loved getting to know our greeter, who transmitted her enthusiasm for Nürnberg to us. We cannot recommend the Nürnberg Greeter experience more highly. It exceeded all expectations.

Thank you again for arranging this fantastic opportunity for us.

Best wishes,

We are delighted to have spent a couple of hours in the company of Stefan. His warm welcome and friendly conversations made the visit to Nürnberg special and unique. We highly recommend this experience as it gives a true flavour to the city's past and present landscape.

Family from UK, Juli 2026

We really did have a wonderful time with Astrid and Siggi, who showed us around Nuremberg—a beautiful city we hadn’t visited before.

We really enjoyed Siggi’s “little stories,” and appreciated that we could converse in French, since our knowledge of German is more than limited!

We hope to return to Nuremberg to get to know the city better and, in particular, to visit the museum—provided, of course, that the DB allows it…

Thanks again to Astrid and Siggi,
